At The Winning Smile Dental Group, we believe every smile makes a difference. But we’re committed to helping our community in other ways, too.

For every new patient we see, we set aside $5 and ask the patient to nominate their favorite organization. At the end of each month, we hold a drawing to select the winning non-profit. This give-back program, in addition to our other charitable and community-minded efforts, has allowed our team to work with so many outstanding organizations over the years.

If you’re interested in supporting a non-profit organization or want to get involved in our community, you can’t go wrong with any of the following 9 amazing organizations we’ve had the pleasure of supporting.

1. St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital

We have a special place in our hearts for children in need. We love supporting the work that St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital is doing to help children from our community and throughout the US.

St. Jude is a pediatric treatment and research facility focused on helping children with tough diseases, particularly childhood cancers. There is no cost for patients in need, but it costs the hospital roughly $2.8 million a day to run, so financial support to this organization is important for their continued operation.

2. American Cancer Society

Most of us have at some point heard of or even donated to this nationwide organization. The American Cancer Society was established in 1913 and is dedicated to those fighting cancer.

Our local Mississippi branch of the organization offers many ways to get involved, including local fundraising events and volunteer opportunities. And of course, financial donations are always a simple but impactful way to help.

3. Tupelo Children’s Mansion

Located right here in Mississippi, the Tupelo Children’s Mansion is focused on helping orphaned or disadvantaged children through physical, spiritual, emotional, social, and educational resources.

Most notably, this organization provides temporary and long-term housing and care to children at its large 40-acre group home campus. At The Winning Smile Dental Group, we love that this organization offers so many unique ways to get involved — from memorial gifts or donating your old vehicles, to sponsoring a child in need.

4. Junior League of Jackson

This Jackson, MS organization was founded in 1941 and has since become a well-known part of the local community! The Junior League of Jackson is focused on improving the quality of life of those in our community through effective action and leadership.

In addition to helping those in need in our community, they also host great family-friendly events this every year. We love the work this group does in our community and we think you will, too.

5. Boys and Girls Club of Central Mississippi

Supporting the local chapter of this national organization is a favorite among our staff. We just love its mission of helping inspire better futures for the youth in our community.

Our local Boys and Girls Club chapter offers a variety of great programs, falling into four categories:

1. Healthy lifestyles
2. Academic success
3. Character and leadership
4. Arts

You can focus on the specific area you feel most passionate about supporting!

6. St. Paul Early Learning Center

Located near our Flowood dentist office, we visiting this school center to help educate children on the importance of dental care.

Although we know St. Paul Early Learning Center is just one of many teaching centers in our community, we are always so impressed by this center and love giving our support. Whether it’s volunteering your time or money, it is always truly appreciated.

7. Blair E. Batson Hospital for Children

Part of the University of Mississippi Medical Center, Batson Children’s Hospital is Mississippi’s only children’s hospital and treats about 150,000 kids every year in more than 30 specialty areas.

If helping children in need is your passion, Batson Children’s offers some great giving opportunities. At The Winning Smile Dental Group, Baton Children’s is one of the most highly nominated organizations by our new patients!

8. American Heart Association

The American Heart Association’s branch in Mississippi is dedicated to tackling the social and environmental factors hurting our community’s health the most — from childhood obesity and infant mortality to cardiovascular deaths, and smoking.

Whether you want to partner with the organization to spread awareness or set up a monthly or one-time donation, there are many ways to join the conversation and help the American Heart Association make a difference.

9. NAMI Mississippi

The National Alliance on Mental Illness is a non-profit advocacy with the goal of improving the quality of life of persons living with serious mental illness.

We enjoy donating to the state organization of this organization which works to accomplish their mission through mutual support, education, advocacy, and research. NAMI also offers the ability to become a regular volunteer.

10. Make-a-Wish Mississippi

We’ve all heard of the many heart-warming stories of the Make-a-Wish foundation helping sick children and young people realize their biggest dream. Supporting this organization is incredibly well-deserved.

With over 165 kids in Mississippi diagnosed with a life-threatening medical condition every year, the local branch of this foundation focuses on granting the wish of every one of these children.
