How We Make a Difference in the Community

Dr. Lee Gary • Jan 13, 2020

The Winning Smile Dental Group is proud to be part of the Brandon, Flowood, and Jackson communities. As healthcare providers, we take our standing in the community seriously. We’re dedicated to providing personalized and high-quality care and attention to patients, and also to donating our time, focus, and money to the community.

In this post, I’d like to explain a bit more about why, as a team, it’s so important for us to give back. Keep reading and learn more about how we strive to make a difference — in the lives of our patients and in our community.

Mississippi dentists committed to the community

The Winning Smile Dental Group is home to 25+ experienced dentists, hygienists, and support staff. As one of the dentists on this team, I find it empowering to be apart of such a smart, kind, and dedicated group.

One of my favorite things about our team is the collective commitment to helping others. Our philosophy is to make a difference, one smile at a time.

This mindset creates a positive, welcoming, and energetic environment for both staff and patients. As a father, it makes me proud to be part of a practice that supports a better, more positive community for my kids and for others.

Make an appointment, make a difference

We participate in various volunteer activities throughout the year, but one thing we do consistently and that really sets our practice apart is the “make an appointment, make a difference” program.

For every new patient, we set aside $5. We then give that patient the opportunity to nominate their favorite organization. At the end of every month, we do a live drawing on our Facebook page and choose one non-profit as the winner!

I appreciate this program because it allows our patients to get involved in a unique way. Over the years, our patients have given us the opportunity to donate to some awesome organizations , like the Tupelo Children’s Mansion and the National Alliance on Mental Illness .

Community dental health education

Sharing the importance of brushing and flossing with students at Madison-Ridgeland Academy.

All our dentists, myself included, enjoy giving dental health presentations in the community — especially to children and those in need.

We use skits, demonstrations, and visual aids to help teach good dental hygiene habits and the importance of taking care of your teeth. We’re lucky to have this opportunity to teach something new, answer questions, and meet so many great people in the community.

One favorite recent presentation was for Operation Shoestring , an organization dedicated to helping keep children in school and parents on the job through education, outreach, and inspiration.

Dental health tools donations

Access to things like toothbrushes, toothpaste, and floss is something that’s easy to take for granted.

Our goal of making a difference in the community, one smile at a time, means making sure people have the tools they need to care for their teeth. We regularly donate dental hygiene kits to individuals and groups in our community.

Everyone deserves to have a healthy smile. That starts with good dental hygiene habits.

Supporting families

We regularly provide volunteer opportunities and events for the entire family to get involved with. Our team and their families often get together to do something positive for our community.

Some favorite activities are the annual community Family Festival Day, taking deserving families on a Target shopping spree, and participating in the American Cancer Society Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk.

Improving smiles

I can’t finish this post without talking about our most important role in the community — helping improve people’s smiles and health.

How you feel about your smile can make all the difference in your confidence and success. Our team takes a personalized and high-tech approach to dentistry and aims to be your family’s partner in dental health.

Whether we’re helping a patient with a complete smile makeover or working together with our patients to prevent decay or gum disease — we take our job seriously.

Join our efforts

Our patients are the reason we’re motivated to make a positive impact on our community. Thank you for trusting us with your dental health.

If you haven’t already, I recommend keeping tabs on our Facebook page . It’s a great way to stay up-to-date on the latest goings-on here at The Winning Smile Dental Group, including our volunteer and event participation and upcoming events.
